3rd Party Insurance

Most Vision Care Plans are based on time.  Eligible patients are covered.  Those not yet eligible have no coverage.  Coverage typically includes payment towards 1) exam, 2) frame, and 3) Rx lenses.  Insurances cover each element separately.  Think of it as three separate covered items — not a single umbrella to cover all costs.  Experienced staff members will determine in advance of your visit eligibility for covered services and copays.

Village Vision Care locations are a participating provider for the following insurance plans:

    • Paramount Health Care*
    • Vision Service Plan – VSP*
    • Spectera*
    • Superior Vision*
    • Davis Vision*
    • Vision Benefits of America – VBA*

Vision Care Plans typically cover exam and refraction.  Medical eye problems e.g. cataract, pink eye, foreign body, etc. is not covered as a routine vision care service. Prior authorization is required to determine eligibility, copay, and/or deductible. Patient out-of-pocket expenses are due on the day of service. Generally, contact lens exam services are not covered by most 3rd party vision plans.

** Most covered EyeMed patients can be reimbursed for out-of-network services.  Our patients often spend less on glasses or contact lenses vs. doing so from EyeMed providers.  EyeMed is a subsidiary of Luxottica.  Visit YouTube or click here https://youtu.be/voUiWOGv8ec to learn more about Luxottica.

*** Medicare does not cover routine eye care or refraction.

Sticker shock: Why are glasses so expensive?
